Entry for May 12, 2011

Well, this week is going by really slow. I don't like it. I hate it when this happens, the days go by slower once we get close to the end of the school year. Today is probably one of the slowest days this week. It's finally 8th hour but it'll probably go by slow, because that would only make sense as it's being so close to the end of the day. It is kind of cold in this room, the school must've figured out how to run their air system. I hope it thunder storms tonight when I get home. It seems like it only storms at night when I'm sleeping.

Random Writing

It's been awhile since we last blogged. I don't like blogging. I must prefer SSR over writing. I think it's because that I'm not very creative enough to just start writing stuff right off the top of my head. Speaking of my head it's tilted to the left for some reason. I'm not sure why, maybe it helps me write. I also think that we should have had the day off on monday after Prom or should've had Prom on a Friday night that way students have at least one day to recover from it. I think that I need to go visit the chiropractor again my back kind of hurts. Well I think that's good enough for writing on this blog for today.

Chemistry

So chemistry has been interesting since yesterday and today. We have successfully created a compressed air launcher with some surgical tubing, a part of a syringe, a sink, and a cork. Yesterday we had a hollow ball that was on the end of the syringe so you could suck water in with it but we accidentally broke that. The air would build up or the water would fill it up and it'd shoot off. That's how it started at least. Anyway, the ball got a hole on it so we had to find something else to launch. We found a cork. That works much better than the ball. I think we have mastered the art of launching the cork. Now we just need to make one on a bigger scale.

Spring Break

Spring break. I wish we were on it like all the other schools, but unfortunately our school schedules ours around Easter. Our break isn't really a break either, or at least I don't consider it to be one, because we get a Thursday, Friday, and a Monday off instead of a week off like most other schools. I don't understand it. I would really like to be on Spring Break right now so I could sleep in for a couple days in a row. In other news I still don't know what to write about. I hate how I'm so used to pressing command s to save papers I sometimes do it on this and it doesn't work the same as it does in a Pages document.

News Article

Well I'm having a difficult time finding an article that I want to write about so I'm going to write about how slow this week is going as compared to last week. Last week went by fairly fast. I was surprised when it was Friday. The weekend went by slow but that was kind of nice. Then Monday hit and it was a longer day despise being an early out. I wish today was Friday that way I could sleep in tomorrow. It seems like I've been losing some sleep but not a lot. I find it surprising that too much sleep is said to be harmful to you. I don't know how or why but one thing I can understand is that too little sleep is harmful to you. Its harmful because it doesn't give your body enough time to repair itself.

The Weekend

This weekend I went to the Variety show both nights, Friday and Saturday. I liked Friday night's performance better than Saturday's. The reason for this is because Saturday night's line-up was pretty much the same thing as Friday's except with a few different performances in place of Friday's. My favorite performance of both nights was probably Tyler and Lucas's skit "With Child," which was a remake of Julian Smith's version on YouTube. Taylor Welter also had some good performances with him singing "The Piano Man."

Tasks That I Dislike

I especially despise doing homework. I believe that homework is just a waste of time. I also dislike the grading system that is used in our education system. I think it doesn't teach so much as it does stress students minds to get a good grade. Another thing I dislike is blogging, or any form of writing for that matter. I also hate doing comprehension about books like what does the author mean by this certain line. Then there's taking notes during movies. I find that to be pointless because when I'm focusing on writing down something I miss parts of the movie and other times I don't completely understand what was said because it went by too fast. Those are just a few tasks that I don't like doing, if you notice they have to deal with school.

Dialects

I do believe in some places people are discriminated because of the way they speak. Some people may get made fun of because of their accent. For example a person in a large wealthy community may make fun of a person with a southern drawl by making statements that they may be dumb or slow when in fact may be smarter than the person making fun of him.

I for one don't mind most accents. Some may be harder to understand than others but I don't think they should get made fun of because of it. I also think that stereotypes are drawn from accents and different dialects as well. People with a southern drawl are often to made out to be farmers or ranchers. A lot of times I believe Asian accents are made fun of the most.

My Name's Meaning

I looked up the meaning of my first name and the Old English term of Clayton is clay town. I also found out that my middle name, David, means beloved. Unfortunately I could not find anything on my last name which is disappointing because I have tried to look for family before on the internet but there are always no results. My dad thinks this is because our name has become Americanized and the way we spell it now is different from how it was spelt. Alls I know is that my last name is Czech and nothing else really.

Free Write

Last weekend went pretty well I think. Saturday was the Sectional wrestling tournament at Alburnett. I placed 2nd and get to wrestle at the district tournament this coming Saturday and hopefully place high enough in order to go wrestle at the state tournament next week. After the tourny on Saturday most of the wrestlers went out to eat with the cheerleaders and managers. We tried to go to Buffalo Wild Wings but that was too crowded so we ended up going to Metro Buffet. I had fun and was able to try frog legs for the first time which I thought were pretty good. Sunday I just relaxed and didn't watch the Super Bowl. Then Monday unfortunately came and then Tuesday we started ITEDs. Hopefully the rest of the week goes by fast so this weekend is here.

Things About School to Change

I would like to change the lunches that are served. I liked the way the food was before the state law was passed for healthy food in schools to reduce childhood obesity. Another thing would be to change the classes that are required to take to graduate. I believe that if your not interested in the class why should you have to take it? It makes no sense to me to waster your time taking a class that is not going to benefit you in your future. Example; If I didn't have to I would not take an English class because I really don't enjoy literature and have a difficulty trying to find the "meaning" of what an author wrote. I could care less what he/she "means" by writing.

No School Tomorrow

I'm looking forward to having no school tomorrow. Its nice to have days off from school. I wish we only had to school for 4 days instead of 5. I think there should be a day off on Wednesdays, its right in the middle of the week so it gives you a break. It would be helpful if your having a stressful week. I know people would say well that's what the weekend is for but I just don't feel that is necessary to go to school almost everyday of the week. Its very complicated to type with a splint on my left hand.

Ideal Man and Woman in American Society

I believe that the ideal man in American Society is portrayed to have a muscular build and is able to support his family. There are so many ads for products to make you lose weight and gain muscle mass that I find it a little ridicules.

I believe the ideal woman in American Society is portrayed to have a slim figure with long hair and big breasts. There are a lot of ads for make up as well as fragrances for women. Alls that I really have to say about this subject is that people of both sexes are depicted to be "perfect" and I think this is just a marketing scam for companies to make money. It works for them but it shouldn't people should be happy with the way they are. I can understand that some people may actually want to lose weight to better their self fitness and some people may buy make up and self care products to make themselves look good for certain occasions but other than that I don't see how so many things are needed.
